Hinghwa Methodist Church was founded in 1911 by Rev Dr W.N. Brewster, a missionary from Fujian, China to serve the Hinghwa-speaking congregation in Singapore with Mandarin and English services added on thereafter. Hinghwa Methodist Church’s first proper residence was in a shop-house along Sam Leong Road in 1933 and shifted to the current location of Kitchener Road in 1941. The present 4-storey building Hinghwa Methodist Church resides in was completed and was dedicated in April 1986.
Their heart cry was to fulfil the Great Commission by raising Christ-centered disciples to plant vibrant, biblical churches in Singapore and all over the world. This is still echoing strongly in the hearts of every people who have joined this spiritual family ever since. We love God, we love people and we couldn’t be happier about people coming to a loving relationship with Jesus Christ, here and all over the world!
